Preheat the oven to 325°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Partially melt the butter in the microwave or on the stovetop so that it is about halfway melted.
In a large mixing bowl, stir together the partially melted butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla. Add the flour, baking soda and salt and stir until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Place the dough on the lined baking sheet and press it down as thin as possible, making one large rectangle of dough.
Bake for 18-20 minutes then remove from the oven and allow to cool completely. Cut into desired size/shape pieces and enjoy!
